Borderlands 4 Legendary Ordnance

Work In Progress

Here we will go over where you can find all of the Borderlands 4 Legendary Ordnance which is an interesting category of support weaponry ranging from throwing knives to plasma cannons and almost anything you can think of in between including some severely overpowered Grenades. Legendaries are some of the best items you can equip in Borderlands 4 and for the most part they are incredibly powerful / useful items which can carry you through some of the tougher missions.

Bare in mind there are many variations of Ordnance but the base name will always be the same. The prefix will determine the type of attachments that a given Ordnance will have, you might have a completely different prefix which can lead to some confusion but ultimately the legendary itself will have varying levels of efficacy based on the prefix you receive. The Legendary Ordnance I have managed to find in Borderlands 4 so far are:

Grenades

Grenades are where most players will find the balance between heavy damage and ease of use as grenades are usually throw during combat, carry on firing then wait for the explosions to transform your enemies into chunks of meat. Grenades are very powerful anyway but if you get one with an elemental variant or one which spawns other grenades which can even home in on targets then you have a quick, effective way of laying down some severe damage against mobs, bosses, badasses and anything else stupid enough to get in your way. The Legendary Grenades I have found so far are:

Atomic Jelly

Location: RNG drop from the Splashzone story boss.
Ability: Self-Replicating.
Brand: Ripper.
Synopsis: A very hard hitting grenade which splits into multiple grenades that will prove a lot more efficient if thrown into a closed off area like a cave or building. Just get out the way of the blasts as they can easily put you down with their random ricochets.

Blockbuster

Location: RNG drop from Creeps.
Ability: Got You Covered.
Brand: Vladof.
Synopsis: The Blockbuster is an outstandingly powerful grenade which splits multiple times inflicting severe damage over a very large area. If you have any sort of mobs or are in an enclosed space throw a couple of these out and any low level enemies will be paste and tougher enemies will know they haven’t got long left for this World. Very, very good grenade.

Buoy

Location: RNG drop from the Voraxis boss in the Timid Kyle’s Neglected Opening Auger Mine.
Ability: Buoyant.
Brand: Ripper.
Synopsis: A fairly niche albeit very powerful grenade which floats in the air making it good for ambushes but given the usually large arenas and the relatively small by comparison blast and delay in the timer triggering the explosion you will need to be highly proficient to wield this grenade effectively.

Chaumurky

Location: RNG drop from the Golden Chest.
Ability: Incessant, continuously homes in on a target.
Brand: Order.
Synopsis: The Chaumurky is a naughty little grenade which will home in on an enemy and keep hitting them either until the thing runs out of power and explodes or the enemy dies. It doesn’t seem very good at tracking a new enemy but for single target damage against one enemy it’s pretty damn good. Shame it comes out of a Golden Chest really.

Destructo Disco

Location: RNG drop from Bramblesong in the Bittervein Auger Mine.
Ability: Groove.
Brand: Maliwan.
Synopsis: The Destructo Disco is a half decent grenade providing you’re in closed spaces as it will go forward with a large radiation plume coming out of it which then spins around dealing damage as it goes. The cooldown isn’t that bad but overall it’s on the lower end of mid-tier.

Faulty Detonator

Location: RNG drop from the Skull Orchid boss at the back of the Embossed Fault Auger Mine in Carcadia Burn.
Ability: Sticky Trigger, grenade spawns combo orbs upon detonation.
Brand: Tediore.
Synopsis: This grenade is a double edged sword, on one hand it can spawn a series of Tediore grenades which you can detonate by shooting them, on the other hand you get one charge and a long cooldown which for places this in the mid tier. If you find your self in closed spaces with a lot of enemies on the ground the Faulty Detonator can wipe them out, if there’s any enemy on a ledge or flying around it won’t get close to them so use it effectively for maximum effect.

Firepot

Location: RNG drop from the Golden Chest.
Ability: Spicy, spawns homing Torgue stickies over time.
Brand: Torgue.
Synopsis: The Golden Chest can be found in Carcadia Burn and the code I used which is a legacy code meaning it won’t expire was:

  • T9RJB-BFKRR-3RBTW-B33TB-KCZB9.

Input the code after making a Shift Account then go to the Golden Chest and hope you get some RNG luck. The Firepot is a very powerful grenade which bounces forward firing off homing, sticky grenades that explode over time. The Firepot can devastate in small spaces but in open arenas it’s less effective so once you have one have a go with it and see how you get on.

Fuse

Location: RNG drop from the Driller Hole story boss.
Ability: Fortified Position.
Brand: Daedalus.
Synopsis: This is one of the best damage dealing grenades in the game as it will spawn multiple versions of the grenade whilst bouncing in place dealing heavy damage with every floor impact. If you can can get a variation that spawns more grenades or fires bullets there’s little that can stand up to 2-3 of these bouncing around. You also get to hear Tiny Tina when you throw it which is a nice nod to a franchise favourite NPC.

Recursive

Location: RNG drop from the Driller Hole story boss.
Ability: Looping.
Brand: Maliwan.
Synopsis: A fairly hopeless grenade if I’m being brutal. One that will land on the floor then jump onto enemies dealing a small, elemental explosion. It almost feels offensive to call this grenade “Legendary”. If it was epic it would be cool but as an orange it’s no where near the rest of the pack. One for the devout collectors.

Slippy

Location: RNG drop from the Shadowpelt at the back of the Whistler’s Maw Auger Mine.
Ability: Swordfish, deals melee damage on detonation.
Brand: Torgue.
Synopsis: The Slippy is an incredibly good “grenade” which is actually a Fish that splits in 2 then 3 slamming down on the ground inflicting decent damage per strike. Throw a few of these out and have a school of fish slamming down across the battlefield which isn’t just funny to watch, it’s very effective as well.

Swarm

Location: RNG drop from Sidney Pointylegs in the, The Prospects Ripper Drill Site.
Ability: Swoosh.
Brand: Order.
Synopsis: The Swarm is very good at crowd control as it splits on impact into several grenades all of which home in on targets dealing scaling damage so if you have them all attack one enemy they will deal maximum damage where as if you’re fighting mobs the Swarm will target whoever is closest at the time of splitting. Impressive grenade.

UAV

Location: RNG drop from the optional Mimicron boss found at the back of the Tipping Point Order Bunker in the Idolator’s Noose region of the Fadefields.
Ability: Death From Above.
Brand: Tediore.
Synopsis: A powerful albeit slow to recharge grenade which you need a high amount of accuracy, skill and luck to wield efficiently. You will throw a pad down on the floor which then spawns missiles to rain down on to the pad. Trouble is the enemies need to be standing very close to the pad for it to hurt them and given the strike delay it can be a tricky grenade to master.

Waterfall

Location: RNG drop from the Bio-Bulkhead story boss.
Ability: Waterfall, causes additional explosions when damaging targets.
Brand: VLADOF.
Synopsis: The Waterfall is an incredibly high damage dealing grenade and one I recommend you keep going back to farm from Bio-bulkhead every 5 levels or so as at the time of writing at least it is a seriously powerful grenade I will be keeping equipped for a good while yet.

Heavy Weapon Ordnance

Heavy Weapon Ordnance will drop from enemies / bosses as Rocket Launcher sized weapons but as they’re equipped in Ordnance it was a bit disappointing for me at least. That is until I used it a few times and these things hit seriously hard usually blanketing an area with damage or producing beams of energy which decimate anything stupid enough to walk through it. You will, as a sacrifice need to equip the Heavy Weapon Ordnance in place of your gun so make sure you’re prepared for that. Another set of Ordnance for more hardcore players who are used to the Borderlands playstyle. The Legendary Heavy Weapon Ordnance I have found so far are:

Atling Gun

Location: RNG drop from the Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death in the Craven’s Nook Order Bunker.
Ability: Whistler.
Brand: Vladof.
Synopsis: The Atling Gun is essentially a naval Minigun which fires incredibly fast emptying its magazine which you then have to wait near on a minute for it to reload which to be honest makes the Ordnance a bit crap as if you miss or the recoil pulls you above an enemies critical spot then you have a long cooldown to sit through before you can use the Atling Gun again making this more for the collectors than having any real practical use.

Bottled Lightning

Location: RNG drop from Primordial Guardian Origo in the Vault of Origo.
Ability: Strike Twice.
Brand: Maliwan.
Synopsis: The Bottled Lightning Heavy Ordnance will send a series of electrified orbs out which in addition to the damage the orbs do they also deal arc damage which can massively increase the damage output. On the downside the cooldown is one of the longest in the game but that’s for balance as this thing is so powerful it was on a short cooldown it would be a game breaker.

Disc Jockey

Location: RNG drop from Sidney Pointylegs in the, The Prospects Ripper Drill Site.
Ability: Bouncing Biscuits: Energy disc projectiles bounce up to 5 times, and gain +20% damage per bounce.
Brand: Ripper.
Synopsis: The Disc Jockey isn’t to bad as Ordnance go, it’s on the higher end of mid tier for me as those bouncing discs can do serious damage in close quarters but the problem is you then have to wait just shy of a minute for the damn thing to reload and be usable again. If it was 15-20 seconds that would be OK but 40+ makes it pretty much hopeless especially if you miss.

Ravenfire

Location: RNG drop from the Primordial Guardian Inceptus boss found at the back of the Vault of Inceptus.
Ability: 621, explosions radiate outward from the point of impact.
Brand: Torgue.
Synopsis: The Ravenfire Ordnance isn’t the best type of projectile you can equip in the game, however, as it is such a massive easter egg and nod towards Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, a game I hold very dear in my heart, I wouldn’t care if this thing fired lemons. Fortunately it fires a series of hard hitting rockets which home in on a target and whilst the Ravenfire will never deliver top tier damage the fact it’s got the 621 marker, it’s called Ravenfire and it looks so badass I’ve changed the thumbnail slightly. This is not one for those who play Borderlands, however it is one if you enjoy Armored Core 6 anywhere near as much as I do.

Streamer

Location: RNG drop from the Oppressor story boss.
Ability: Delegation, Launches stationary projectiles that each fire a beam forward.
Brand: Ripper.
Synopsis: The Streamer is highly, highly effective against large, slow moving or stationary targets as those beams that are produced annihilate any sort of enemy, the problem is that against any mobile enemy which is 99% of enemies in the game, it’s more luck that skill that an enemy will walk into the beam which they need to do in order to be hurt. Keep one in your inventory but I’d seldom equip the Streamer.

Void

Location: RNG drop from Moon-Maddened Callis.
Ability: Radiation Exposure, creates a Singularity for 10 seconds, in which enemies take +40% Radiation damage over time.
Brand: Maliwan.
Synopsis: The Void is decent but it could be a lot better as the singularity which is formed will only pull in enemies who are very close to it which then makes it fairly useless against mobs and pointless when it comes to bosses as they won’t move and only take very minimal damage. The Void looks good but when form overwrites function, the form is pointless as it’ll be shoved in the Bank rather than being equipped.

Throwing Knives

Throwing Knives are all based around Speed and Accuracy, you won’t get big explosions or AOE damage but you will, providing you can land the hit of course inflict heavy damage against a single target. One for the professionals to use and the Legendary Throwing Knives I have managed to find so far are:

Buzz Axe

Location: RNG drop from Axemaul in the, The Toil of Spoiling Vis Auger Mine.
Ability: Makeshift.
Brand: Daedalus.
Synopsis: The Buzz Axe is alright as throwing knives go, strange that it’s another you can get from Axemaul but who am I to question legendary placements. The Axe can be thrown into enemies which does fairly good damage but like with all Throwing Knives it needs incredibly high accuracy and if you miss that’s your problem. One for the experts this.

Sho Kunai

Location: RNG drop from the Bio-bulkhead story boss.
Ability: Ninja Speed, grants +10% movement speed for a short duration with each consecutive hit, for a maximum of 7 stacks.
Brand: Jakobs.
Synopsis: The Sho Kunai are decent as throwing knives go but you will need to be highly skilled in aiming accurately which is where the Ninja Speed ability falls away somewhat as whilst moving faster is good in certain circumstances. Moving faster makes aiming efficiently more difficult so for damage, there’s a lot better ordnance in the game.

Spinning Blade

Location: RNG drop from Red Weapons Chests.
Ability: Juggler: Catch the rebound to refund 1 grenade charge.
Brand: Jakobs.
Synopsis: The Spinning Blade isn’t that bad as Throwing Knives go, it’s no where near as effective as most of the other Ordnance in the game but if you want to feel like a Ninja and throw knives into your opponents you will need a good amount of accuracy and if you catch the rebound then you instantly get to throw another.

That’s all of the Borderlands 4 Legendary Ordnance I have found so far, do you know of any I’m missing? Let me know.
