Borderlands 4 Story Bosses

Here we will go over all of the Borderlands 4 story bosses which you will of course face as you make your way through the main campaign both on and off Kairos as you work towards the ultimate goal of stopping the Time Keeper and lifting the oppressive rule over the Borderlands. Bosses can be a hefty challenge but that said the rewards and loot you can get from them can really help you through those tough spots as well as looking pretty damn cool as well. The Main story bosses you will face throughout the game are:

Warden Scathe

Location: Welcome Centre.
Mission: Guns Blazing.
Warden Scathe is a challenging boss who floats around above you firing powerful energy beams down. You will soon come to fight lots of these Warden enemies but the first encounter can be a bit jarring if you aren’t used to Borderlands games. Make good use of any weapon you have managed to find, aim for the head if you can or the chest if your aim isn’t all that yet.

Splashzone

Location: The Fadefields, Coastal Bonescape.
Mission: Recruitment Drive.
Splashzone is essentially a Badass Psycho who spins around and slams his weapon down. Aim for the head and use the elemental barrels to inflict heavy damage.

Horace

Location: The Fadefields, Hungering Plain.
Mission: Down and Outbound.
Horace is a much more powerful version of the Warden Scathe boss, he’s a challenge as well as he will fly around the arena making it difficult to track and lock on to. Aim for where he’s going to be rather than where he is when he turns gold to have an easier time of it.

The Oppressor

Location: The Fadefields, Dissected Plateau.
Mission: A Lot to Process.
The Oppressor is the first real challenge you will face in Borderlands 4 as it is a flying ship heavily armoured and very well equipped to ruin your day. If you have any homing weapons / ordnance then make sure you have them equipped. Hide under the alcove when the missiles start raining and wait for the Oppressor to stop flying about before firing.

Bio-Bulkhead

Location: The Fadefields, Dissected Plateau.
Mission: One Fell Swoop.
The Bio-Bulkhead boss is a pain as you need to throw the grenades to remove Immunity at it before you can cause any damage. If you miss then run to the other canister, get another bomb then aim at the floor where the Bio-Bulkhead boss is to make sure it gets caught in the mist. Rinse and repat until you turn this mech into scrap.

Idolator Sol

Location: The Fadefields, Idolator’s Noose.
Mission: Rush the Gate.
Another boss who will only be able to be damaged after you throw a canister at him which then removes the shielding. Fortunately he does get large leathery blisters on his right shoulder and left hip which you can shoot for extra damage. When he fills the room with lightning forget everything else and just sprint to the safe zone which you will need to do multiple times in a row.

Driller Hole

Location: Carcadia Burn, Tonnage Peel.
Mission: Unpaid Tab.
Driller Hole is a Meathead who can shred you down in seconds with a barrage of elemental missiles and strikes. Be careful of the elemental barrels as his blasts can easily trigger them which usually results in getting downed. Aim for the face as best as you can and ignore the mobs instead use them to get back up when he puts you down.

Callis, The Ripper Queen

Location: Carcadia Burn, Fallen Crown.
Mission: Wrath of the Ripper Queen.
Callis, the Ripper Queen is a tough boss and one who will start the fight with 3 suicide Psychos so dispatch them urgently then focus on Callis who will stomp, slam, detonate and generally be a pain to deal with in her arena. When you have done enough damage, Callis will transform into an Arachnid figure and throw bombs and missile strikes around so dodge them then once her shield is gone, Callis will disappear. Take down the mobs then refocus on Callis until the Ripper Queen is no more.

Skyspanner Kratch

Location: Terminus Range, Cuspid Climb.
Mission: Shadow of the Mountain.
Skyspanner Kratch is one of the toughest bosses you will face as first off it’s a flying enemy which are always a pain to deal with and secondly this thing is incredibly tough, has the ability to pepper you with homing bombs, you fight it in an arena with acid all over the floor and there is little to no cover or protection to be found so you need to either be hyper aggressive or have an insane health and shield pool.

Vile Prototype

Location: Terminus Range, Cuspid Climb.
Mission: Dark Subject.
The Vile Prototype will drop down and will essentially be a Badass Psycho with Kinetic armour so shoot the crystals until they break then unload on the Prototype until he falls.

Vile Lictor

Location: Terminus Range, Umbral Foundry.
Mission: His Vile Sanctum.
Vile Lictor is a tough boss who spends a fair bit of time protected whilst throwing out walls of energy. Every so often he will open the carapace he sits behind and after you destroy the hands he will have a massive crit weak spot above which you can use to inflict heavy damage. After the Shield is down you need to use the tether to get up to the rocks to avoid the energy blast then continue to fire into his face until you bring Vile Lictor down.

Moon-Maddened Callis

Location: Elpis Orbital Shatterfield.
Mission: Another Day, Another Universe.
Callis is back and ready for revenge this time in full robot form. She will come at you with similar attacks as she did earlier in the game except this time there will be a lot more aggression, aim for the face as best as you can whilst avoiding the bombs, slams and missiles then once she creates a web above you take out the mobs before finishing her off.

The Timekeeper

Location: Upper Dominion.
Mission: The Timekeeper’s Order.
The Timekeeper is a bit of a let down as the triultimate boss, he will cause hazards on the floor and flash the screen white which is murder on a poorly optimised game like Borderlands 4 on your PC as it essentially redlines your GPU then gets you back into the fight. Aim for the head and put this overall let down of a boss down.

Primordial Guardian Timekeeper

Location: Upper Dominion.
Mission: The Timekeeper’s Order.
The Primordial Guardian Timekeeper will be fought directly after the Timekeeper and it’s a Vault Guardian so be prepared to encounter plenty of hard hitting attacks. Make good use of the platforms you can tether to which keep you off the hazardous floor and continually aim at the chin, back or face of the Guardian until you bring it down.

Arjay

Location: Upper Dominion.
Mission: Secrets of the Vault.
Arjay is essentially a reskinned psycho who doesn’t really pose much of a threat so attack the Rippers if you go down and if not, just unload in Arjays face until he’s properly dead this time.

That’s all of the Borderlands 4 story bosses. Who was your favourite / least favourite to fight?.
